Another Addition to the Biking Team
31st July 2005, Halim called me up to collect his new 'unta' Suzuki DR800. Sharp at 4:00PM, I left my house to Halim's place and on the way to Temerluh, I was supposed to collect my new updgraded B license..:-).
Jasmi informed me that he was leaving Chukai, Kemaman to accompany Halim's DR800 sharp at 4:00PM (as usual, the 'actual' time is .....mistery!).
As Halim and I approached Karak's Petronas Station, Jasmi informed us to slow down as he was facing some traffic congestion on the way to Kuantan...As we slowed down, we took nearly 1 hour 30 minutes to reach Temerluh, right at the restaurant at the highway exit.
At 5:30PM, we ordered kambing gulai kawah, telur dadar, daging kerutuk, kembung goreng panas...and of course, a delicious tom yam soup to celebrate the arrival of Halim's DR800.
As we were expecting the arrival, Jasmi called us up and told us of the incident from the 'desert' of Maran-Temerluh. The chain gave way at about 40 km from Temerluh exit. DR800 had to be towed to the exit. Halim's desire to give a good ride home crumbled! (See his face expression!)
How could DR800, the champion of Paris Dakar Rally failed to make it through a less challenging journey but....alhamdulillah, no one was hurt..
At 7:45pm, DR800 finally arrived on tow.
Our McGyver began to check the bike. As expected, the little pin was the culprit. To avoid
frustration, as usual, we took our picture for the night...
Fisrt thing the next day, Jasmi began his journey back to Temerluh. DR800 was left at the restaurant after we failed to find the spare all over Temerluh town. We wanted to borrow the chain pin from one of the shops, but the apek guy went crazy clossing the shop early...:-)

This was Halim as last spoted near Genting Sempah Tunnel exactly at 12:00 AM, heading home with his DR800. The rest was history...........
