MERDEKA RIDE With Children of SKBD
Overwhelmed by the guilty feeling of not celebrating the country's independence day anniversary, I volunteered myself to accompany my children for a bicycle ride in their school event. As usual, children are normally very eager to start things and needless to say, my children too... they got up early and woke me up..
Day stated with heavy rain in Damansara area. We reached school at 8:15 just after the rain. We were told that the Yang Berhormat was already there to flag off. The ride was led by 6 young cyclists, fully dressed beb! Of course, I am a bit off-shaped :-)
The ride with children, merely 400 of them and one third were on the bicycles, turned to be quite challenging. Forget all the rules..... they forgot them once they were released out. I automatically became a volunteer and at the same time I was looking after my daughter, Abby. Se just learnt to ride.... the responsibility to guard others came naturally as an adult. Two traffic policemen could not control all of the eager crowd on the road. Only one child fell on his bike and he was ok ( at least the one I assisted). I could not see my son, Afif since he took-off. He cycled in front with his friends... you know boys!
The grand finale was the group photo for the newspaper. I don't know if it was ever printed!
