May 28 - Abby's 12th Birthday


Her wish can be surprising for me.. , Happy birthday Abby!

For Abby, her birthday is the one day that she waits the most every year. When she was ten, she kept reminding us of her birthday, even when it was about 6 months ahead. That's really Abby. Although we have never raised her to have big birthday bash since she was one year old, she continues to ask for a birthday party with friends invited.

This year, we had family dinner at Chilli's at Bangsar Shopping Complex to celebrate Abby's birthday.

For some reasons, she picked up the idea when she was at Bukit Damansara School. As for me and my wife, we always buy her birthday cake and only have his brother with her and we treat birthday as a family celebration. When she was up to 9 years old, at the time we had been staying in Bukit Damansara, only her cousins, grandpa and grandma joined the ocassion. At time, I feel touched when she asked " Why can't I have the same party like friends do on birthday?". Nevertheless, she is with strong heart.

My wife and I told her that the reason we have been celebrating with family is because we are family, nothing is more important than that. Of course, I also told her that when one gets older, the present gets smaller too and at times, the value of the gift gets bigger with only a thought, not the material! She tought that I was so cheap!!! ha ha ha meniaga maa... Yes, it's true, I at this age will be so touched when my son Afif and Abby say, " Happy birthday Pa, where do we eat?.." Of course, even if it's still my money :-).
