One Year Blogging

It was my first posting on 16 July 2005, and it is a year plus now. I deserve a pat on the back for keeping the blog going. I did not realize how much things have been captured in this blog, not just for my friends to share but for me to look back. This motorcycle story seems to keep me going for a year and yet I am not tired of it still...

This merdeka month, for the 49th times, I have no specific plan to celebrate. I know that the day is a very special day to be thankful to Allah Almighty that this country is still free. I thought about riding around and taking a fresh look at the country again but I may just hold on to it simply because Afif is about to sit for his exam, UPSR. Back when I was on similar exam in 1978, Standard 5 then, I was just a kampung boy with big vission on my head, to be very successful in life. My father and mother both had a very high hope for me to lead the way for all of us in the family.




My father kept reminding me that he was smart when he was a student, but being poor and not having enough money, he managed to sit up to standard three only. He said, grandpa was poor and schooling needed money that they did not have. My mother was also from a poor family. My grandpa was just a rice farmer as well as a rubber tapper. My mom at least had a chance to pursue study in Arab school. Back then, the religious school was known as Arab school. Despite the facts of their hard lives, they both are literate. Life was not luxurious back then, but my memories are clear that in 27 years later, that is today, I could not thank more for what Allah has shown me of my existing future that I would not have known at that time.

This is my story... merdeka is very special to me, to all of us. If I can tell such a wonderful change in that 27 years, I believe many of other Malaysians are even better off than me. This is a very special country.. we make it work for us and for the future generation we care the most!Happy indepence day! Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!
